Job Description (JD) – ABAP Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Lead Programmer (LP) with strong expertise in SAP ABAP and S/4HANA development. The candidate will be responsible for technical design, development, code reviews, mentoring team members, and driving modernization initiatives using the latest SAP technologies such as RAP, CDS Views, AMDP, OData Services, and Fiori. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in delivering complex SAP solutions while ensuring high-quality, scalable, and performant developments.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead SAP ABAP development activities across projects and enhancement initiatives.
• Review technical designs and provide solution recommendations aligned with SAP best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Drive adherence to coding standards, development methodologies, and quality processes.

Development & Technical Design

• Develop and maintain ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows.
• Design and implement technical solutions in SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Work extensively on DDIC objects, ABAP Objects, BAPIs, RFCs, Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits, and IDOCs.
• Develop integrations with SAP and non-SAP applications.

S/4HANA Modernization

• Design and develop CDS Views for analytical and transactional scenarios.
• Build applications using RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model).
• Develop and expose OData Services for SAP Fiori applications.
• Implement code pushdown techniques using AMDP and HANA capabilities.

Quality & Performance

• Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with development standards.
• Perform performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of ABAP programs.
• Ensure application scalability, reliability, and security.
• Support defect analysis and resolution during testing and production phases.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with Functional Consultants, Architects, Business Users, and Project Managers.
• Participate in requirement gathering, estimation, design discussions, and solution deployments.
• Provide technical documentation and knowledge-transfer sessions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 7–9 years of experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Experience working on S/4HANA implementation, migration, or transformation projects.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SAP Joule for Developers and ABAP AI capabilities.
• Knowledge of SAP BTP and extension development.
• Functional exposure to:
• Finance (FI/CO)
• Logistics (MM, SD, WM, EWM)
• SAP certifications in ABAP or S/4HANA technologies.
