About the Role

We are seeking an AI Policy & Standards Writer (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on AI governance, responsible AI, policy development, standards documentation, reviewer guidelines, and AI-generated policy evaluation.

In this role, you will develop and evaluate AI policies, governance frameworks, reviewer guidelines, acceptable-use policies, and standards documentation. Your expertise will help improve AI systems designed for policy compliance, AI governance, risk management, and safe AI deployment.

This position is ideal for professionals with experience in AI governance, policy writing, technical documentation, risk management, compliance, trust & safety, or responsible AI programs.

Responsibilities

• Create deliverables addressing real-world AI governance and policy development scenarios.
• Annotate and evaluate AI-generated policies, governance documents, reviewer guidelines, compliance frameworks, and standards documentation.
• Assess AI outputs for clarity, completeness, regulatory alignment, consistency, and practical applicability.
• Draft and maintain AI policies covering governance, operational procedures, risk controls, escalation workflows, and compliance requirements.
• Develop Responsible AI standards addressing fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, safety, explainability, human oversight, and ethical AI deployment.
• Author and review Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) defining appropriate AI usage, prohibited behaviors, user responsibilities, content restrictions, and enforcement mechanisms.
• Apply Model Context Protocol (MCP) governance concepts, including secure tool usage, context management, permission models, auditability, and governance controls for AI agents.
• Develop comprehensive reviewer guidelines by creating annotation instructions, evaluation rubrics, decision trees, quality standards, escalation procedures, and calibration documentation.
• Ensure policies align with organizational objectives, industry best practices, and emerging AI governance frameworks.
• Identify policy gaps, governance risks, ambiguous language, inconsistencies, and compliance issues in AI-generated documentation.
• Provide structured feedback to improve AI performance in policy authoring, governance documentation, and standards development.
• Review peer-developed deliverables to maintain quality and consistency standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Policy, Law, Computer Science, Information Security, Business Administration, Technical Writing, Ethics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI governance, policy writing, technical documentation, compliance, trust & safety, risk management, or standards development.
• Drafting Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) for AI systems, platforms, and enterprise environments.
• Applying Model Context Protocol (MCP) governance concepts, including tool permissions, context handling, governance controls, auditability, and secure agent interactions.
• Creating reviewer guidelines, evaluation rubrics, annotation manuals, quality standards, calibration materials, and decision frameworks.
• Reviewing AI-generated policy documents for clarity, consistency, enforceability, and regulatory alignment.
• Experience with documentation platforms such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Notion, Confluence, or similar knowledge management tools.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 23894, OECD AI Principles, EU AI Act, or similar standards is preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking, structured writing, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated policy documents for quality, governance, and practical implementation.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in AI governance, trust & safety, regulatory compliance, public policy, legal, enterprise risk, or technical standards organizations.
• Experience developing enterprise AI governance frameworks, responsible AI programs, or organizational policy documentation.
• Familiarity with LLM evaluation, AI benchmarking, prompt governance, model lifecycle management, or AI safety initiatives.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity governance, data privacy regulations, or software development governance is an advantage.
• Professional certifications in AI Governance, Information Security, Risk Management, Privacy, Compliance, or Technical Writing are highly desirable.
