KOIRR (Kumaraguru Office for Industry Relations and Research) is recruiting a dedicated Business Development professional to own industry outreach end-to-end. This is an exclusive, full-time role and the single industry-facing BD channel for the Kumaraguru ecosystem, with a mandate to bring in industry projects — funded research, CSR-funded projects, training engagements and consultancy — while representing the Research, Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (RiDE) capabilities of Kumaraguru and KC.IRI externally.


KOIRR serves as the gateway between industry and the Kumaraguru ecosystem. The BD Manager represents the institution’s R&D capabilities to the external entities. The focus will be to forming and cultivating relationships with the industries and growing the funded collaborative activities with them, thereby converting Kumaraguru's RiDE strengths into contracted engagements across the full lifecycle: mapping, outreach, qualification, pitching, proposal development with faculty and KC.IRI, negotiation support, handover to delivery, and account for repeat business.


Engagement Types :

Funded Projects: Industry-sponsored R&D, product development, prototyping, sponsored labs, CPSRC-linked research

CSR Projects: CSR-funded programmes in education, skilling, community innovation and sustainability

Training Projects: Corporate training, workforce upskilling, certification, faculty development

Consultancy: Faculty-led technical consultancy, testing, design services and advisory work


Key Responsibilities

A. Outreach & Pipeline Generation

  • Map target companies across manufacturing, IT/ITES, automotive, textiles, energy and agritech; drive structured cold and warm outreach through visits, conclaves, industry bodies, alumni and referrals; qualify against KOIRR's tier framework and develop a pipeline of industry funded projects a live pipeline at ≥ 3x coverage of the annual target.

B. Deal Origination & Conversion

  • Originate and close funded, CSR, training and consultancy engagements against the scorecard — scoping and developing detailed proposals with help from faculty, KC.IRI, FORGE Academy and RiDE verticals — and move every deal through the MoU & Industry Engagement Approval Policy to signature with correct tier classification.

C. Institutional Representation

  • Represent Kumaraguru's RiDE capabilities and KC.IRI in external forums, exhibitions and corporate leadership meetings; keep capability decks, case studies and sector one-pagers current; host industry delegations and showcase labs, centres and student innovation on campus.

D. Account Management & Governance

  • Own partner relationships, run structured reviews and drive repeat and multi-line business; maintain 100% CRM hygiene, submit the monthly BD report to the CIRO by the 5th working day, and ensure full compliance with the MoU Approval Policy.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Who We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications — Bachelor's degree in engineering / science; MBA or equivalent preferred. 6–10 years in B2B business development, corporate / CSR partnerships or institutional sales, with a track record of carrying and achieving ₹2 Cr+ annual targets.
  • Network — Existing corporate network across Tamil Nadu / South India, including CSR and L&D decision-makers, is highly desirable.
  • Selling & orchestration — Consultative seller able to translate research, design and training capabilities into commercial value; confident in dealing with CXOs, CSR heads and HR leadership; strong proposals and decks; coordinates faculty and internal offices without direct authority.
  • Working style — Rigorous with CRM, approvals and documentation; self-driven, field-oriented and energised by building a function from the ground up.
