About the role


The Finance Controller for the Utility Business will oversee project related financial reporting, project-level controls including automated controls, compliance, project related cash flow planning + control, project funding related operations & compliance, audit coordination for project related activities etc, commercial governance covering full project cycle including under-construction stage + operational state, project related MIS across multiple SPVs and large-scale renewable assets. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial discipline, transparency, and accuracy across the full lifecycle of utility-scale projects—from development and construction to operations.


How you will contribute:


Financial Reporting & Compliance (project related)

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing for utility-scale SPVs.
  • Ensure compliance with Ind-AS, Companies Act, GST, Income Tax, and regulatory requirements specific to infrastructure and renewable energy.
  • Coordinate with statutory, internal, and tax audits; ensure timely closure of audit observations.


Project Finance & Commercial Governance

  • Oversee project-level accounting, cost monitoring and controls, and capitalisation during construction and commissioning.
  • Validate EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and vendor payments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and variance analysis; highlight risks and corrective actions.
  • Support financial modelling, project viability assessments, and investment approvals.
  • Overall project related governance and controls leading to financial viability & performance


Controllership & Internal Controls

  • Strengthen processes and internal control frameworks across procurement, contracting, invoicing, and asset management (full project life cycle).
  • Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and financial discipline.
  • Ensure robust documentation, reconciliations, and risk management practices across SPVs.


Treasury & Lender Management

  • Manage cash flow planning, fund utilization, and working capital for projects.
  • Coordinate with lenders for drawdowns, DSRA, covenants, and periodic reporting.
  • Support refinancing, debt restructuring, and lender due diligence as required.


Business Partnering

  • Work closely with project, engineering, commercial, and operations teams to provide financial insights.
  • Support long-term planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the utility portfolio.
  • Provide decision support for PPAs, bids, regulatory changes, and commercial negotiations.


Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team supporting utility-scale operations.
  • Build a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement.


Ideal skills for this role include:


  • CA with 10–15 years of experience in controllership or commercial financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of business, regulatory frameworks for infrastructure/renewables.
  • Experience managing multi‑SPV structures and large-scale project accounting.
  • Proven ability to manage audits, lender reporting, and financial governance.
  • Strong analytical & commercial skills, attention to detail, and stakeholder management capability.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-growth, project-driven environment.
