Financial Controller

A high-growth, new-age defense tech startup building next-generation products for modern battlefields is seeking a Financial Controller. Founded by an IIT Bombay alumnus and early drone-tech pioneer, the company is looking for a finance leader to build its financial backbone. You will work directly with the founders and leadership team to manage numbers, systems, and financial strategy with precision.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Strategy: Own the financial backbone, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for a high-growth startup.
• Leadership Collaboration: Partner directly with the founders and leadership team to align financial decisions with business priorities.
• System Building: Structure, build, and scale financial functions and accounting systems from scratch.
• Compliance & Audit: Oversee statutory compliance (GST, TDS, PF/ESI), financial reporting, Zoho Books, and audit processes.
• Insight Delivery: Communicate complex financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders

Must-Have Qualifications

• Experience: 6+ years of progressive finance experience, with 3–5 years specifically in startups or high-growth environments.
• Technical Expertise: Strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience with financial software (like Zoho Books) and structuring finance workflows.
• Mindset: High ownership, high agency, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Bonus Points

• Experience in defense, aerospace, or deep-tech sectors.
• Exposure to fund management, investor reporting, or capital raising.
• Experience implementing ERP systems or financial automation tools.
• Prior experience managing audit coordination, risk assessments, and internal controls.
