Role Description This part-time, remote freelance/contract role focuses on data warehousing, data migration, and business intelligence (BI) tools for clients with complex data environments. The professional in this role will design, develop, and optimize data warehouse architectures, ensuring data is structured for accurate reporting and analytics. Daily responsibilities include planning and executing data migration strategies, validating data integrity, troubleshooting issues, and documenting processes. The role also involves configuring and maintaining BI tools, building dashboards and reports, collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements, and translating business needs into scalable data solutions. The contractor will work independently, manage timelines and deliverables, and provide clear communication on project status and risks.

Qualifications

Candidate should have experience 6+ years of experience in at least one migration and Data warehouse projects an Data Warehouse Design & Development:

• Design and implement data warehouse architecture, including fact and dimension tables, star/snowflake schemas, and

data marts.

• Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., ERP, CRM, transactional systems).

• create and maintain data models, metadata, and documentation for all data warehouse components.

ETL / Data Integration

• Develop automated data pipelines using tools such as Informatica, DataStage, SSIS, Pentaho, or Apache Airflow.

• Ensure data quality, cleansing, and validation across all data sources while handling Data migration from Sources to New Data models

• Implement incremental data loading, scheduling, and error handling mechanisms.

Database Management

• Work with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake databases for storing and managing large datasets.

• Optimize SQL queries for performance tuning and efficient data retrieval.

• Implement partitioning, indexing, and archival strategies for high performance and scalability.

Business Intelligence & Reporting:

• Support BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik for reporting and dashboard creation.

• Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.

Data Governance & Security:

• Ensure compliance with data security, privacy policies, and governance standards.

• Manage user access, data encryption, and auditing.

• Work closely with DBA, Application Development, and Analytics teams.

• Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret complex data sets, diagnose issues, and optimize data warehouse and BI solutions.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, data migration, and mainstream BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar).
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases and cloud data platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is highly beneficial.
• Experience designing scalable data models, performance tuning, and implementing data quality and governance practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.
