Amazon’s Global Trade Services (GTS) team is looking for a highly motivated Product Compliance Program Manager to lead product compliance initiatives, controls implementations and compliance advocate with complex problem solving skills. GTS is looking for an experienced Product Compliance Manager who will deliver global risk management solutions.
You will work closely with different functions including legal, public policy, logistics and supply chain, finance, business, and Product and Technology teams to continuously improve our compliance standard and risk management capability.
The ideal candidate would be a self-starter with a subject matter expertise of trade and product regulations, particularly experienced with customs operations with a strong track record of delivering projects that involves coordination across different functions.
The role will help drive and scale IN’s product compliance program through innovative process development, engaging cross-functional teams that span a broad range of stakeholders, including development teams, new business streams, and senior leadership. The candidate will have strong program/project management skills, must have a passion for new challenges, be creative, self-directed, passionate about learning and inventing, and a great team player. In this role, you will drive continuous process improvement, and collaborate effectively to solve problems and develop requirements for new compliance solutions.
Key job responsibilities
The Global Trade Services (GTS) team helps move hundreds of thousands of items each day through borders, obsessing over the import and export compliance requirements for over seventy countries so that our customers, vendors, and sellers can reliably send and receive a broad range of products.
Global Trade Services consists of two operational areas: Trade Compliance and Product Compliance. The teams are based out of Bangalore and Mumbai and reports to the Head of GTS in India.

Key job responsibilities
- Apply awareness about key Partnering government agencies requirements.
- Develop, implement, enhance, and maintain strategic compliance processes and solutions for managing IN regional product compliances, and driving continuous improvements.
- Monitor regulatory changes.
- Create metrics for management reporting.
- Drive process improvement and compliance implementation projects.
- Own leadership communications to stakeholder teams and leadership across all levels.
- Innovate control mechanisms to best meet business goals and compliance requirements.
- Expertise in Allied regulations:
- BIS CRS scheme applicability of the product, exemptions and BIS labelling requirements - BIS Act 2016.
- BIS ISI scheme – Quality control orders. Import regulations and exemptions - BIS Act 2016.
- SIMS/PIMS/Non ferrous – import monitoring, Steel/Copper/Aluminum/ Non ferrous import monitoring regulations.
- MTCTE - Telecom engineering center product applicability and Labelling requirements as per Telecommunications regulations.
- Indian Telegraph Acts 1885 and associated rules
- EPR – Plastic/battery/E-waste - import applicability and labelling requirements. Annual returns filings.
- Ewaste management regulations, 2022.
- Battery waste managment regulations – 2022.
- Plastic waste regulations-2016.
- Plant quarantine- wood product import regulations and Plant NOC applications from customs - plant quarentine regulations 2003.
- Textile articles import regulations.
- DGFT requirements.
- IMEI - Mobile phone import requirements as per Telecom guidelines.
- WPC - Wireless product import requirements for licensed and non licensed products as per telecom regulations.
- Experimental license.
- Licensed Wireless Products import requirements as per telecom regulations
- Sim card - Import requirements as per telecom regulations.
- Legal Metrology – Packaged commodities regulations and General rules, Legal metrology import registrations - Legal Metrology packaged commodities rules, 2011.
- Laptop & tablet– Import DGFT authorization requirements.
- Cites regulations for import of cites regulated wood products.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
- 5 years Trade and product compliance experience working with customs and other trade authorities
- Licensed customs broker
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and best practices
