Head of Engineering & AI (Candidates preferred from Fintech/AI SAAS startups)

Location- Bangalore

Education- Tier1 Institutes preferred, not mandatory

Experience- 6-8years

The Role

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering & AI to own the entire technology function end‑to‑end—product engineering, AI/ML, platform, infrastructure, security, and team building.

You’ll be the technical co‑pilot to the founders, translating product and business vision into scalable, production‑grade systems. This is a deeply hands‑on leadership role: you will write code, review PRs, design systems, interview senior engineers, and lead customer architecture discussions while building and scaling a high‑performing engineering organization that can deliver four enterprise products in parallel.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of AI, enterprise SaaS, and people leadership, and wants to build category‑defining products from the ground up.

What You’ll Own

Engineering & Product Delivery

• Own end‑to‑end engineering leadership across all four products
• Drive technical roadmaps, system architecture, delivery execution, and engineering quality
• Ensure fast iteration without compromising reliability, security, or scalability

AI & Agentic Systems

• Design and evolve our agentic AI architecture, including:
• Establish best practices for LLM reliability, observability, and cost control

Platform & Enterprise Readiness

• Build and scale an enterprise‑grade, multi‑tenant SaaS platform
• Set standards for data isolation, privacy, and financial‑grade correctness

Team Building & Culture

• Hire, mentor, and grow the engineering team from its current size to 30+ engineers over the next 18 months
• Define engineering culture, hiring bar, career ladders, and feedback systems
• Create a high‑ownership, execution‑focused environment with strong technical rigor

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead technical architecture discussions with stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• 6–8 years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a tech lead, engineering manager, or founding engineer role
• Proven experience shipping and scaling enterprise SaaS products
• Hands‑on experience with LLM‑based systems

Education

• B.Tech / M.Tech from a top‑tier institution (IIT, BITS, IIIT, NIT, or equivalent)
• Strong computer science fundamentals: distributed systems, databases, system design

Technical Depth

• Deep expertise in at least one modern backend stack: Python, Go, Node.js, or Java
• Solid data engineering skills

Leadership & Mindset

• Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing engineers at multiple levels
• Comfortable handling feedback, performance management, and difficult conversations
