We are seeking a talented individual to join our Investments team at Mercer, a Marsh Business. This role will be based in Pune/ Gurgaon. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office

Lead Specialist – Alternatives Data Support

We will count on you to

• :Manage and support alternative asset data (private equity, real estate, hedge funds, infrastructure), ensuring data completeness, accuracy, and consistency
• .Validate, reconcile, and cleanse alternative asset data from multiple sources to maintain high data quality for reporting and analytics
• .Collaborate with alternative data vendors (e.g., iLevel, Preqin, S&P EDM, DealCloud, Altvia) and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate data delivery and issue resolution
• .Monitor and support data pipelines and workflows, ensuring smooth data ingestion, transformation, and integration into investment platforms
• .Assist in defining and tracking service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data quality and delivery
• .Document data processes, mappings, business rules, and support procedures to maintain transparency and operational efficiency
• .Support data governance initiatives including metadata management, data quality controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements
• .Use SQL and relational database tools to extract, analyze, and validate structured and unstructured data sets
• .Prepare and present data quality reports, dashboards, and insights to investment teams and management
• .Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including investment research, portfolio management, technology, and risk to support data needs and resolve issues
• .Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance data quality, operational processes, and automation
• .Support ad hoc data requests and analytics related to alternative investments

What you need to hav

• e:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative disciplin
• e.5+ years’ experience in data support, data operations, or analytics focused on alternative investments such as private equity, hedge funds, real estate, or infrastructur
• e.Practical, hands-on proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) for data extraction, validation, and reconciliatio
• n.Familiarity with alternative asset data providers and platforms such as iLevel, Preqin, S&P EDM, DealCloud, or simil
• arDirect operational experience working with alternatives data providers or platforms (e.g., iLevel, Preqin, S&P EDM, DealCloud, Altvia, Diligent Vault, Vidrio, HFR), including ingesting vendor feeds, mapping fields, and resolving data issue
• s.Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and lookup functions, for data analysis, reconciliation, and reportin
• g.Solid understanding of alternative investment data elements and basic performance metrics such as commitments, NAV, cashflows, IRR, valuation dates, vintage, and exposure
• s.Proven experience performing data validation, cleansing, and reconciliation across multiple source systems with strong attention to detai
• l.Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders (investment teams, technology, operations) and external vendors, with the ability to clearly explain data issue
• s.Ability to manage multiple operational requests, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environmen
