Role Description The MD Microbiology Faculty role is a full-time, on-site academic position based in Pathankot. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical students, deliver lectures, conduct practical sessions in the microbiology laboratory, and participate in curriculum planning. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising lab work, guiding students in diagnostic microbiology techniques, preparing teaching materials, and evaluating student performance through examinations and assessments. The role also involves participation in academic meetings, contribution to departmental activities, and support for research initiatives and quality improvement in microbiology services within the institution. The faculty member is expected to collaborate with colleagues, maintain professional standards, and stay updated with current developments in medical microbiology.
Qualifications

  • Possession of an MD in Microbiology from a recognized university or institution, with valid and current medical registration as per applicable regulations.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of medical microbiology, including bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, and infection control practices.
  • Demonstrated teaching abilities, including designing lesson plans, delivering lectures, conducting practical demonstrations, and mentoring students in academic and professional development.
  • Competence in laboratory management, including supervision of diagnostic procedures, adherence to quality and safety standards, and collaboration with clinical departments for infection diagnosis and control.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, colleagues, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, along with a commitment to ethical and patient-centered care.
  • Ability to engage in academic research, publish scholarly work, and participate in conferences or professional development activities is highly beneficial.
  • Previous teaching or clinical experience in a medical college or tertiary care hospital is preferred but not mandatory for highly motivated and well-qualified candidates.
