Operations Manager - Post harvest

Location: Farm near Manesar, Haryana

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Shroomery

Shroomery is building one of India's most ambitious mushroom companies.

From cultivating premium gourmet mushrooms to developing functional mushroom extracts, we're creating a vertically integrated business focused on quality, innovation, and sustainability.

Fresh mushrooms are among the most perishable food products in the world. Every hour matters after harvest, and every decision made during packaging directly affects freshness, shelf life, customer experience, and business profitability.

We're looking for someone who understands that packaging isn't just about putting products into boxes. It's about protecting quality, building trust, and creating systems that scale.

About the Role

As the Packaging Manager, you will lead one of the most critical functions within our farm operations.

You will oversee harvesting coordination, packing operations, cold storage, inventory accuracy, packaging teams, and stock movement across fresh mushrooms and value-added products.

This role combines people management, operational planning, inventory control, and continuous process improvement.

You'll work closely with Production, Logistics, Sales, Procurement, and Leadership to ensure every product leaving the farm reflects the quality Shroomery stands for.

If you enjoy building efficient operations, improving workflows, and leading teams on the ground, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Harvest & Packing Operations

  • Plan and supervise daily harvesting activities in coordination with production teams
  • Ensure harvested mushrooms are handled quickly and hygienically
  • Allocate harvest quantities according to customer orders and inventory requirements

  • Ensure proper storage conditions for all harvested mushrooms
  • Monitor inventory movement into and out of cold storage
  • Reduce spoilage through effective stock rotation and storage practices
  • Maintain FIFO (First In, First Out) across all inventory

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate stock records for fresh mushrooms, packaged products, and packaging materials
  • Conduct regular inventory reconciliation
  • Investigate stock variances and implement corrective measures
  • Ensure inventory visibility across departments

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and schedule packaging staff
  • Train new employees on packaging standards and hygiene practices
  • Monitor team productivity and quality performance
  • Build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Process Development

  • Create, document, and improve SOPs for packaging operations
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed, consistency, and quality
  • Standardize workflows to support future business growth
  • Work with leadership to implement operational improvements

External Partner Coordination

  • Coordinate incoming products from partners
  • Manage purchase orders for stock replenishments
  • Verify quality and quantity upon receipt
  • Ensure traceability and proper documentation
  • Maintain clear communication regarding harvesting schedules and quality expectations with partner growers

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are maintained throughout packaging operations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of packaging areas
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal quality initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs and regulatory requirements

Who We're Looking For

  • This role is for someone who enjoys creating systems.
  • You naturally organise work, notice inefficiencies, and believe that operational excellence comes from discipline and consistency.
  • You are equally comfortable managing people on the shop floor and improving processes behind the scenes.
  • You understand that great operations aren't accidental. They're designed.
  • If you're the kind of person who sees opportunities for improvement everywhere you go, we'd like to meet you.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline
  • 4-5 years of experience in packaging, warehouse, food processing, agriculture, FMCG, or manufacturing operations
