Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Patent Attorney role based in New Delhi. The Patent Attorney will draft and prosecute patent applications, prepare patent specifications, claims, and responses to office actions, and provide legal opinions on patentability and freedom-to-operate. The role includes conducting prior art searches, performing due diligence for transactions and investments, and advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio management. The attorney will interact with inventors, in-house counsel, and technical teams, review technical disclosures, and ensure compliance with relevant patent laws and regulations. The position involves maintaining accurate documentation, meeting statutory deadlines, and contributing to knowledge-sharing and mentoring within the firm.
Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in patent preparation and patent applications, including drafting specifications and claims.
  • Solid understanding of patent law and patentability requirements, with the ability to provide clear legal opinions.
  • Experience in due diligence related to intellectual property, such as assessing portfolios and identifying risks.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering, science) and a law degree (LL.B or equivalent).
  • Registration to practice before the Indian Patent Office; prior experience in a patent law firm or corporate IP department preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with attention to detail and ability to handle complex technical information.
  • Strong communication and client management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and maintain high professional and ethical standards.
