Job Description
Overview: SBI Foundation, established in 2015 as the CSR arm of the State Bank of India, works towards creating sustainable and inclusive development for underserved and marginalized communities across India. Through impactful CSR initiatives, the Foundation contributes to social transformation and supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
SBIF LEAP focuses on promoting social innovation and strengthening India's innovation ecosystem by supporting impactful, indigenous, and scalable solutions to address critical social, environmental, and economic challenges through its flagship initiative, Innovators for Bharat (I4B).
The Assistant Manager – LEAP (Innovation) will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, and management of projects under the innovation thematic area. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, project management and research to ensure effective execution of initiatives and achievement of program objectives.
Position: Assistant Manager – LEAP (Innovation)
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. [Candidates should be open to future relocation/change in office location within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).]
Employment Type: 3year contractual role and may be renewed for a period of every Two years basis performance and Management’s discretion.

Salary: Salary: The fixed CTC for this role will be up to 7LPA, plus up to a 20% variable component linked to annual performance. The final CTC offered will depend on interview performance, relevant experience, and skill set.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree or equivalent in Public Policy, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Innovation Management, MBA (Rural Management), Engineering, Technology Management, Economics, or related fields.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in innovation ecosystem development, incubator support programs, research and development initiatives, CSR project management, social innovation, academic innovation programs, or related fields will be preferred.
- Experience in managing or supporting projects involving start-ups, innovation challenges, research institutions, incubators, accelerators, academic institutions, or technology-driven social impact initiatives will be highly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & program Development
- Support the design and implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening incubators, innovation ecosystems, and social innovation platforms.
- Conceptualize innovative, scalable, and sustainable interventions to address social, environmental, and economic challenges.
- Support innovation challenges, R&D initiatives, and ecosystem-building interventions.
Project Appraisal & Management
- Evaluate project proposals, conduct technical due diligence, and recommend suitable interventions.
- Monitor project implementation, review progress, and ensure timely achievement of outcomes.
- Coordinate with incubators, innovation hubs, academic institutions, and implementation partners for effective execution of project activities.
Research & Knowledge Management
- Conduct sector research in climate action, agriculture, fin-tech, health-tech, emerging technologies, and related areas.
- Develop knowledge products, case studies, and technical reports to support organizational learning.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact
- Support monitoring and evaluation of innovation-focused programs using measurable indicators.
- Analyse project performance and recommend improvements to maximize social and economic impact.
- Conduct Field Visit to monitor the assess progress and beneficiary outcome.
Capacity Building & Representation
- Provide technical guidance to implementation partners and internal teams.
- Represent SBI Foundation in meetings, workshops, conferences, and ecosystem events.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Good understanding of the innovation ecosystem, including incubators, accelerators, academic institutions, research organizations, social innovation networks, and CSR project implementation and management.
- Experience in project management, monitoring, reporting, and impact assessment, with a sound understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and project performance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project performance, analyse sector trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, knowledge products, and coordinate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.
PREFERRED QUALITIES:
- Experience working with start-ups, incubators, accelerators, academic institutions, research organizations, or innovation ecosystem partners.
- Strong problem-solving mind set and ability to work in dynamic and evolving environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High ownership, proactive attitude, and result-oriented approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Adaptability and willingness to travel for project monitoring, partner engagement, and field visits.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, including prioritization and timely execution of tasks.
Additional Tasks: Perform any other duties assigned by SBI Foundation management.
Although the individual will work in a small team, it is essential that the chosen candidate can work in an independent manner to complete the given tasks in a time-bound manner.
