Python Developer (Data / Reporting) – Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Python Developer (Data / Reporting) to design, develop, and maintain data processing, reporting, and automation solutions. The role involves working with business stakeholders to understand requirements, build scalable applications, improve operational efficiency, and support business-critical platforms.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in Python, SQL, data processing, and API development, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using Python and SQL.
• Design and implement data processing, reporting, and automation solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand functional requirements.
• Develop and support reconciliation and reporting platforms.
• Build business intelligence reports and automate manual processes.
• Design and optimize database schemas and SQL queries.
• Build and integrate REST/SOAP APIs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing application support.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and release activities.
• Contribute to process improvements and technical enhancements.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Pandas and SQLAlchemy.
• Understanding of Data Modelling and Database Schema Design.
• Experience with relational databases such as:
• PostgreSQL
• MariaDB/MySQL
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience building and consuming REST/SOAP APIs.
• Good understanding of Git, version control, and release management.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of XML, FIX, and FIXML.
• Experience working with financial systems or financial data.
• Understanding of reporting, reconciliation, or risk management applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
