Role Description The Senior Cosmetic Chemist will lead the development and optimization of

premium color cosmetics and personal care formulations that align with Sterling Naturals’ luxury and performance standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and executing formulation experiments, managing stability and compatibility testing, and ensuring compliance with relevant cosmetic regulations and safety standards. The role will collaborate closely with R&D, marketing, and supply chain teams to translate product concepts into scalable formulations, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and support product claims with scientific data. The Senior Cosmetic Chemist will also mentor junior team members, maintain accurate documentation, and stay current on emerging ingredients, technologies, and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Strong formulation and product development skills in COLOR COSMETICS, MAKEUP, skin, hair, and personal care, including experience with active ingredients and natural extracts.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques, stability testing, compatibility testing, and analytical evaluation of cosmetic products.
  • Knowledge of cosmetic regulations, safety assessments, and documentation standards relevant to domestic and international markets.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (R&D, marketing, manufacturing, quality) to move products from concept to commercialization.
  • Ability to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot formulation and process challenges, and optimize for performance and cost.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document procedures, write technical reports, and support product claims.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to a hybrid work environment.
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutics, or a related field; advanced degree or specialized training in cosmetic science is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in luxury, natural, or premium cosmetic brands is highly beneficial; leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.
