Job Description:

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Snowflake Platform Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise Snowflake environments across Development, UAT, and Production. The role focuses on platform administration, security governance, performance optimization, cost management (FinOps), automation, and high availability while enabling engineering and analytics teams through best practices and self-service solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration

  • Manage Snowflake environments across Dev, UAT, and Prod.
  • Administer roles, RBAC, MFA, and security controls following least-privilege principles.
  • Support large-scale, multi-tenant workloads with high concurrency.
  • Configure and manage secure data sharing across accounts and regions.

Security & Governance

  • Implement data masking, row/column-level security, encryption, and CMK.
  • Monitor Login History and Access History for security and compliance.
  • Conduct periodic access reviews, audits, and compliance validations.
  • Govern internal and external data sharing in line with enterprise policies.

Performance & Optimization

  • Analyze and optimize query performance, warehouse utilization, and workload patterns.
  • Tune warehouses, clustering strategies, and materialized views.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks such as disk spilling, excessive scans, and inefficient joins.
  • Optimize auto-scaling, multi-cluster warehouses, and resource consumption.

FinOps & Cost Management

  • Monitor Snowflake usage, credits, storage, and cloud services consumption.
  • Drive cost optimization through workload tuning and usage governance.
  • Build dashboards and reports using Account Usage and Information Schema views.
  • Support chargeback/showback and FinOps best practices.

Automation & DevOps

  • Automate provisioning, monitoring, alerting, and operational workflows using SQL/Python.
  • Develop reusable scripts and self-service solutions to reduce manual effort.
  • Support CI/CD integrations using Git and Jenkins.
  • Enhance operational efficiency through automation and observability.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

  • Manage replication, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Leverage Time Travel, Fail-Safe, Zero-Copy Cloning, and snapshot recovery.
  • Support multi-region deployments with high availability and resilience.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with Data Engineering, BI, DevOps, and Cloud teams.
  • Provide Snowflake administration guidance and troubleshooting support.
  • Act as L2 escalation point for platform, security, and performance issues.

Required Skills

  • 4–8 years of IT experience with strong hands-on Snowflake Administration.
  • Expertise in RBAC, security governance, and data sharing.
  • Strong experience in performance tuning and workload optimization.
  • Proficiency in SQL and automation scripting (Python/Shell).
  • Experience with Snowflake Account Usage, monitoring, and FinOps practices.

Preferred Skills

  • CI/CD experience with Git and Jenkins.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP integrations.
  • Exposure to DR, replication, and multi-region Snowflake deployments.
  • Knowledge of SOX, SOC2, GDPR, or similar compliance frameworks.

Preferred Certifications

  • Snowflake SnowPro Advanced Administrator or Core Certification.
  • AWS, Azure, or GCP Cloud Certifications.

Ideal Candidate: A proactive Snowflake Administrator who can balance platform reliability, security, performance, cost optimization, and automation while supporting enterprise-scale data platforms.
