Solutions Architect

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join our Digital Technology function in India. You will need to have a development background, with at least 5 years’ experience of Solution Architecture, preferably in Financial Services. You will be a self-starter, able to operate with minimal supervision across all architecture domains, with a key focus on application architecture in the AWS cloud environment.

Primarily focusing on the earlier stages of the software development life cycle, you will collaborate with our Portfolio Delivery function and other Solution Architects to understand customer and technical needs and design architectural solutions to meet them that are innovative, scalable, reusable and aligned with Aptia’s emerging technology standards and conventions. You will present your recommended solutions to the Design Review Board for approval, and ensure that any agreed changes to the baseline architecture are reflected in the documentation and Enterprise Architecture tool.

Following project approval, you will form part of the leadership team tasked with bringing your architectural vision to fruition utilizing agile methodologies. You will elaborate your architecture designs and collaborate with our development and infrastructure teams to enable implementation of them.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, documenting and communicating solution designs that accommodate the Agile Principles of fail fast and provide the resilience necessary to accommodate changing and fluid requirements
• Working with our partners to understand business and technology problems or opportunities
• Providing process, guidance and governance on technology obsolescence, component re-use and platform modernization
• Designing solutions that incorporate reuse, standardization and security-by-design to simplify, secure and accelerate technology delivery
• Being innovative in your design thinking and using your expertise to influence the Aptia technology roadmap
• Taking your architectural designs through our governance processes to ensure they meet Aptia’s standards and conventions
• Supporting the implementation of architectural designs from infrastructure set up through to delivery
• Identifying and managing technical debt and identifying approaches to resolve it
• Providing support for our teams and business partners for sizing and cost estimations during budget planning
• Being an involved member in our technology community, championing the latest technologies and trends within Aptia and the wider industry, sharing your knowledge, successes and learnings with your colleagues
• Ensuring that automation and efficiencies are enabled through the solution design
• Operate as the embedded architect within one or two cross-functional delivery squads, participating in PI Planning, sprint ceremonies, and daily standups
• Own solution-level and domain-level architectural decisions within your squads
• Collaborate with developers on detailed design, review pull requests for architectural compliance, and write proof-of-concept code when needed
• Design solutions that are innovative, scalable, reusable, and aligned with Aptia's technology standards — prioritizing security-by-design, API-first patterns, and component reuse
• Provide architectural input during demand intake and sizing, collaborating with the Assessment function to ensure estimates reflect technical complexity
• Identify, quantify, and propose resolution strategies for technical debt — integrating tech debt reduction into PI planning etc
• Design migration and modernization architectures for Aptia's legacy platforms
• Architect solutions using AWS cloud services, with an understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud patterns where Azure is also in play

Technical skills or qualifications required:

• Over 12 yrs of experience with the following technologies, architectures & methodologies
• Experience of architecting solutions using Intelligent Automation Platforms
• AWS cloud architecture, with experience in Azure also desirable
• MEAN stack, .Net core, python and other middleware technologies
• Identity and Access Management solution architecture, Multi Factor Authentication and Single Sign On (OAuth, SAML)
• Containerization, preferably using Kubernetes
• Microservices based architecture
• Secure By Design concepts
• Secure DevOps
• Big Data / Data Lake / BI Tools (e.g. SSRS, QlikSense, PowerBI)
• Application Performance Monitoring (APM) techniques
• Agile architecture and development methodologies
• Recognized document standards (C4, UML)
• AWS cloud architecture — VPC, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3. Hands-on experience designing and deploying production workloads
• Microservices and API-first architecture — RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, message queues (Kafka), API versioning
• Containerization and orchestration — Docker, Kubernetes (EKS preferred), service mesh patterns
• Application development background — strong hands-on experience in at least one of: .NET Core/C#, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or MEAN stack
• Data architecture fundamentals — data modelling, ETL/ELT patterns, data lake/warehouse concepts, familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, QlikSense,)
