Staff Accountant

Reports To: Director of Accounting

Location: Remote

Position Summary

Cordance is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support inventory accounting, monthly close, and general ledger activities across a portfolio of operating companies.

The successful candidate will have strong general accounting fundamentals, inventory accounting experience, and working knowledge of NetSuite's Advanced Inventory functionality.

The Staff Accountant will partner closely with finance and operations teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation, timely reconciliations, and reliable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Accounting

  • Work within NetSuite's Advanced Inventory module to monitor inventory activity, analyze inventory transactions, support inventory reconciliations, and ensure accurate inventory valuation and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly inventory account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger and investigate variances.
  • Analyze inventory adjustments, write-offs, transfers, and inventory-related transactions.
  • Assist with inventory reserve calculations, including excess and obsolete inventory reserves.
  • Review inventory aging and support inventory valuation analyses.
  • Ensure inventory transactions are accurately recorded and reflected in financial statements.
  • Assist with month-end inventory close activities.

General Accounting

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with external audit requests and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accounting records in accordance with US GAAP.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience.
  • 1-3 years of inventory accounting or inventory-related accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of NetSuite experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CA or CPA candidate.
  • Experience working in multi-entity environments.
  • Experience supporting external audits.
  • Familiarity with inventory costing methodologies including FIFO, Average Cost, or Standard Cost.

NetSuite Advanced Inventory Experience

Candidates should have working knowledge and practical experience with NetSuite inventory processes, including:

  • Inventory Valuation Reports
  • Inventory Activity Reports
  • Inventory Adjustments
  • Inventory Transfers
  • Cycle Counts and Physical Inventory Processes
  • Bin Management
  • Lot and Serial Number Tracking
  • Item Master Maintenance
  • Saved Searches and basic reporting
  • Inventory Cost Revaluations
  • Assemblies and Work Order transactions

Deep NetSuite administration expertise is not required; however, candidates should be comfortable navigating inventory transactions, researching discrepancies, and utilizing inventory-related reporting within NetSuite.
