Steel Detailing Checker – Project Lead

You'll be the final quality gate on 70+ steel detailing projects a year, and the person trusted to run them end-to-end — from IFA drawings through client sign-off — for fabricators across the USA, Canada, and the UK. This is a role for someone who's tired of just catching other people's errors and is ready to own project outcomes.

Matrix Steel Solutions is a steel detailing firm based in Coimbatore, serving fabricator clients across the USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK. Delivering 70+ projects annually across AISC, CISC, AS, and BS standards. Founded in 2021, MSS has grown into a trusted detailing partner for North American and international fabricators, with a reputation built on accuracy and turnaround discipline. You'll work directly with our Managing Director and project leads across multiple active project teams.

• Review and check structural steel detailing packages (GA, erection, and shop drawings) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with AISC/CISC standards before client delivery
• Own end-to-end delivery on assigned projects — scheduling, RFI tracking, and coordination between detailers, engineers, and clients — from IFA through IFC
• Identify and resolve modeling and connection design discrepancies in Tekla Structures models before they reach the client, reducing revision cycles
• Coordinate with clients on RFIs, drawing revisions, and shop drawing approval status, keeping communication clear and on schedule
• Mentor junior and mid-level detailers on checking standards and common error patterns, raising overall team output quality
• Track project hours against estimates and flag scope changes early, protecting both delivery timelines and profitability
• Maintain standard QA/QC documentation and revision summaries for every project you check or manage

Must-Have:

• 5-7 years of hands-on structural steel detailing experience, including dedicated checking/QC responsibility
• Working knowledge of AISC standards (CISC or AS/BS exposure is a strong plus)
• Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures (modeling and drawing review)
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing detailing projects, not just individual drawing packages
• Strong written communication for direct client-facing RFI and revision correspondence

Nice-to-Have:

• Prior experience checking or managing projects for North American (US/Canadian) fabricator clients
• Exposure to connection design review or light structural engineering coordination
• Experience mentoring or leading a small detailing team
