Job Summary:
The Team Lead - Integration is a senior, client-facing role responsible for managing and delivering end-to-end integrations between Mercans’ global payroll platform (HR Blizz - HRB) and various third-party solutions, including HCM, WFM, ERP, banking systems, and statutory authorities.
This role involves leading a team of integration specialists, owning client success, conducting impact analysis, error troubleshooting, managing integration testing and QA, and collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Support teams to address integration limitations, challenges, and product improvements.
The role also drives AI/ML-based automation for integrations, develops quality frameworks, and ensures continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Client Success & Relationship Management
- Act as the single point of accountability for clients for all integration configurations and lifecycle management.
- Drive end-to-end client engagement, from requirements gathering and solutioning to post-go-live stabilization.
- Proactively manage client success metrics, ensuring integrations align with business objectives and compliance needs.
- Conduct client training, workshops, and post-go-live reviews to optimize integration performance.
- Impact Analysis, Risk Mitigation & Root Cause Identification
- Conduct impact assessments for all new and modified integrations to evaluate risks and downstream effects.
- Identify trends and root causes of frequent integration and audit issues, develop preventive and corrective actions.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives to resolve systemic integration challenges and improve overall integration health.
- Integration Implementation, Configuration & Compliance
- Lead the end-to-end design, configuration, testing, and deployment of integrations with third-party platforms.
- Develop integration mapping documents, technical specifications, and secure data exchange frameworks.
- Ensure integration designs comply with local statutory regulations (e.g., tax, social security, labor authorities).
- Manage and monitor inbound and outbound data flows, ensuring accuracy, security, and timely processing.
- Quality Assurance (QA) & Integration Testing Management
- Develop and implement standardized QA frameworks and testing processes for integrations, ensuring reliability and high quality.
- Establish and oversee system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and performance testing.
- Define test strategies, test plans, and test cases specific to integrations, ensuring full coverage of scenarios, including edge cases.
- Manage integration testing and quality assurance activities related to HRB product upgrades, ensuring integrations remain functional post-upgrade.
- Work with clients to coordinate and execute UAT cycles, including issue triaging and resolution.
- Set up testing tools, automation scripts, and monitoring dashboards for integration validation.
- Ensure thorough documentation of testing outcomes, defects, and resolutions for future reference and audits.
- Statutory & Regulatory Integration Management
- Analyze and document interfaces with local statutory authorities (e.g., tax, social security) to ensure compliance.
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to keep integrations aligned with evolving regulations and statutory changes.
- Develop solutions to automate statutory reporting and data submission requirements via integrations.
- Collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Support Teams
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to identify, analyze, and address product limitations affecting integrations.
- Partner with Support teams to manage escalations and resolve recurring integration issues.
- Contribute to the product roadmap by identifying client needs and integration improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate feature enhancement requests and defect management for integrations.
- AI/ML-Driven Integration Automation & Innovation
- Identify and implement AI/ML-driven automation opportunities in integration workflows, including error detection, self-healing integrations, and smart data mapping.
- Collaborate with Data Science teams to leverage AI for anomaly detection, automated reconciliation, and predictive analysis.
- Drive innovation in API design, middleware utilization, and intelligent integration frameworks.
- Internal Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Lead cross-functional coordination between integration, configuration, product, and implementation teams to ensure seamless delivery.
- Align integration deliverables with overall project timelines, dependencies, and risks.
- Support sales and pre-sales teams in client engagements, technical workshops, and solutioning.
- Team Leadership & Best Practice Governance
- Lead and mentor a team of 3-4 integration specialists, fostering technical growth, quality delivery, and customer-centric focus.
- Define and enforce integration governance, best practices, and SOPs to standardize delivery.
- Monitor team performance, ensuring alignment with KPIs, SLAs, and quality metrics.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.
- Error Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
- Proactively monitor integration health, performance, and error rates, ensuring rapid resolution of issues.
- Develop and maintain error-handling frameworks and proactive alerting systems to minimize operational risk.
- Drive continuous improvement through analysis of system behavior, client feedback, and performance metrics.
- Own and manage post-upgrade integration testing and stabilization to maintain seamless client operations.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in systems integrations, payroll technology, HCM, WFM, and ERP platforms, including at least 3 years in a senior/lead role managing integration teams and complex integration projects.
- Demonstrated experience in client-facing roles leading complex, high-impact system integrations, including requirement gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
- Strong background in payroll, HR, and workforce management systems integrations, with deep understanding of end-to-end payroll cycles, data flows, and compliance impacts.
- Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with Product, Engineering, and Support teams to deliver seamless integration solutions.
- Proven experience in managing statutory and regulatory integrations, including government portals, tax authorities, social security, pension funds, and banking integrations for payments and filings.
- Strong technical expertise in API integrations (REST, SOAP), including authentication, data mapping, transformation, and orchestration.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience in developing and implementing QA processes, testing frameworks, and integration testing strategies.
- Experience in designing and managing system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and performance testing for both standard and customized integrations.
- Knowledge of test automation tools for integration testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines related to integrations.
- Strong experience in managing large-scale integration projects, including project planning, timeline management, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Experience working in multi-vendor, multi-platform environments, coordinating across internal and external teams, vendors, and client stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience or demonstrated exposure to AI/ML technologies for integration automation, anomaly detection, data mapping, error prediction, and self-healing integrations.
