Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a VTS Operator, located at Mangalore, Karnataka. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and managing vessel traffic movements within the port limits using the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system. Key responsibilities include ensuring navigational safety, maintaining communication with vessels, monitoring radar and surveillance systems, coordinating with marine and port authorities, and responding to operational or emergency situations. The role also involves maintaining operational logs and supporting efficient marine traffic management.

Qualifications

  • Holder of IALA VTS-103 Certification (Mandatory)
  • Knowledge of Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) operations and maritime communication systems
  • Familiarity with radar monitoring, AIS systems, and navigational procedures
  • Understanding of port and marine safety regulations
  • Ability to monitor and coordinate vessel movements effectively
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Good communication and coordination abilities
  • Ability to work in rotational shifts and operational environments
  • Prior experience in port/marine operations is an added advantage
