Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management
- Draft, review, negotiate, and administer contracts with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Ensure contracts accurately reflect commercial, technical, legal, and operational requirements.
- Maintain contract registers and monitor contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage contract amendments, variations, extensions of time (EOT), and change orders.
- Ensure proper contract closure and documentation upon project completion.
Commercial Management
- Review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documents, specifications, and contract conditions.
- Evaluate commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project costs, revenue, cash flow, and contractual entitlements.
- Support pricing, budgeting, and commercial evaluations during project execution.
- Maximize recovery of legitimate claims and contractual payments.
Claims & Dispute Management
- Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate claims related to delays, variations, disruptions, and additional works.
- Manage contractual correspondence with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Support dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, or litigation, in coordination with legal counsel.
- Maintain records to support contractual claims and defenses.
Tendering & Procurement Support
- Review tender documents and identify contractual risks before bid submission.
- Assist in preparing commercial qualifications and bid clarifications.
- Support subcontractor selection, commercial evaluations, and contract awards.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure contractual compliance in purchasing activities.
Risk & Compliance
- Identify contractual, commercial, and legal risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and applicable laws.
- Monitor insurance, performance guarantees, warranties, and contractual securities.
- Promote ethical contracting practices and corporate governance.
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Planning, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and Site Teams.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Support negotiations with external stakeholders to achieve favorable commercial outcomes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain organized contract files, correspondence, and commercial records.
- Prepare contract status reports, commercial dashboards, and risk registers.
- Report key contractual issues, claims, and commercial performance to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in Construction Law, Commercial Management, or Business Administration is an advantage.
