Role Description The Procurement Engineer – Rolling Mill is a full-time, on-site role based in Rajkot. This position is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, and services required for the rolling mill operations, ensuring timely availability and cost-effective purchasing. Day-to-day tasks include identifying and evaluating suppliers, preparing and issuing Requests for Quotation (RFQs), negotiating terms, and managing purchase orders in alignment with production schedules. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, maintenance, production, and finance teams to understand technical specifications, monitor inventory levels, and resolve supply issues. The Procurement Engineer also supports continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain, contributes to vendor development, and maintains accurate procurement records and reports.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Supplier Evaluation and Request for Quotation (RFQ) preparation and management.
  • Candidates should possess solid experience in handling Purchase Orders and related procurement documentation.
  • Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to compare offers, assess total cost of ownership, and support data-driven decisions.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for coordinating with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; a specialization in metallurgy or steel manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Experience in procurement within steel manufacturing, heavy industry, or rolling mill operations is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of standard procurement practices, basic contract terms, and inventory management principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP or procurement management systems.
  • Ability to work on-site in Rajkot, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
