The role
As South India Head, you will hold complete ownership of user acquisition and ground operations for Zillwork across the region. You will lead both sides of the marketplace, determine which markets we enter and in what order, establish our presence from the very first day, carry the regional numbers, and answer directly to the founder. The full workings of the business will be laid out for you when we meet.
What you will own
- Complete ownership of acquisition across both sides of the marketplace — and the judgment to shape your own method for each.
- The regional road-map entire: which markets to enter, in what sequence, and how we take root in each.
- Operations on the ground day to day, and the building and stewardship of a team as the region grows.
- The regional numbers — owned outright, tracked with rigour, and reported directly to the founder.
What we seek
- Languages: Tamil, English, Hindi, and one further South Indian language (Kannada, Telugu, or Malayalam) — command of each in reading, writing, and speech. All four are indispensable.
- Eight years or more across user acquisition, field operations, business development, field sales, or community mobilisation — leadership earned, not merely held.
- A strong and ready network in your home market, and the ambition to carry it across South India.
- An intimate understanding of South Indian markets.
- Equal assurance in the field and across the table — as at home among workers on the ground as among business owners in the room — and the discipline to own a number and deliver it.
- Readiness to travel the region, and ease with the everyday instruments of operation.
What will set you apart
- A history of building from nothing, rather than presiding over what others have raised.
- A network you may open from the first day.
- Hard-won experience in gig, labour-tech, staffing, microfinance or self-help groups, the non-profit sector, or distribution.
- A conviction about this mission that is genuinely your own.
This role is not for you if
- You work only from behind a desk, or only within the appointed hours.
- You await a finished design and a standing team upon arrival — here, both are yours to build.
- You cannot move with ease across the states and languages of South India.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience and the standing of the role.
